Republican Chaprales enters Mass. House race

Apr 30, 2012 02:38 PM

Republican Adam Chaprales (shuh-PRAH’-liss) has entered the race for the state’s redrawn 9th Congressional District.

The 28-year-old Chaprales was elected to the Sandwich Board of Selectmen at age 21, making him the youngest member of the board in town history. He served one term and currently works for the New York Life Insurance Co. on Cape Cod.

The reshaped district includes Cape Cod, the islands and much of southeastern Massachusetts. Incumbent U.S. Rep. William Keating intends to run in the redrawn 9th and will be opposed in the September Democratic primary by Bristol District Attorney Samuel Sutter.

Chaprales announced his candidacy over the weekend.

Christopher Sheldon, a businessman from Plymouth, is also seeking the Republican nomination.
