Divers end offshore search for missing Mass. girl

Apr 26, 2012 09:08 PM

State police divers and boats have ended their search of waters off Rockport for a 2-year-old girl who disappeared a week ago from a beach.

State police spokesman David Procopio said Thursday no new searches are planned unless there’s new evidence in the case of Caleigh Anne Harrison of Gloucester.

Her family says they believe she was abducted since she hasn’t been found. Police say they have turned up no evidence of any crime after an intense investigation, but will follow up any new information.

Caleigh was last seen April 19 as she played on Long Beach with her mother, her 4-year-old sister and their dog. Her mother says she turned away for about two minutes to retrieve a ball that had bounced over a wall, and Caleigh was gone when she returned.
