J.C. Penney Co. fell $1.39 or 4.0 percent, to $33.68.

Saks fell $.15 or 1.4 percent, to $10.87.

Sears Holdings Corp. fell $1.86 or 3.2 percent, to $56.08.

TJX Companies fell $.91 or 2.1 percent, to $41.54.
