Raytheon Co., the Waltham-based defense contractor, and the Boston Celtics said they are poised to unveil tomorrow a new technology lab at Dearborn Middle School in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood.

"Sponsored and constructed by Raytheon and the Boston Celtics, the new lab will provide teachers and students with technology resources and educational opportunities for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning," Raytheon and the Celtics said in a press release. "These resources include a brand new Smart Board, 25 computers donated by HP and software donated by Microsoft."

The school was chosen to be the first beneficiary of the newly formed Raytheon-Celtics partnership, whose goal is to help educate local students and raise awareness about STEM education challenges, Raytheon and the Celtics said.

STEM initiatives have long been an interest of Raytheon's. One Raytheon program is MathMovesU, which is committed to increasing middle school students� interest in math and science education by engaging them in hands-on, interactive activities.
