Elizabeth Warren strikes a populist chord in a new TV ad announced today, complaining that the federal government still gives oil companies subsidies while Congress weighs cuts to student loans and Medicare funding.

“Families are getting hammered and Washington’s got it all wrong,” the Democratic Senate candidate says.

She adds: “We’re supposed to help our kids and honor our parents.”

Her rival, Republican Senator Scott Brown, announced a pair of new TV ads today that feature his wife, former Boston television reporter Gail Huff, talking about their personal relationship and family life.
