Gray sparks run, Cornell beats Brown 69-66

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Johnathan Gray scored 10 of his 18 points during a key first-half run as Cornell defeated Ivy League-foe Brown 69-66 Saturday.

Shonn Miller added 13 points for Cornell, which won its third straight game and took sole possession of third place in the league.

Cornell (13-12, 5-3) led 24-22 before Gray hit a 3-pointer to spark an 11-2 run for the Big Red. Gray hit 3 treys during the run as Cornell took a 40-29 lead into halftime.

Brown (9-13, 3-5) made six 3-pointers in the second half and cut the deficit to 68-66 with 25 seconds left, but Stephen Albrecht missed a trey with 4 seconds showing.

The Bears outrebounded Cornell 41-31 but committed 16 turnovers, compared to nine for the Big Red.

Sean McGonagill paced Brown with 19 points and Cedric Kuakumensah chipped in 13 points and a career-high 19 rebounds.
