Type in the URL jetbluepark.com and you'll be redirected to the web site of the New York Yankees. The Fort Myers News-Press reports that a local resident purchased the internet domain name after hearing that JetBlue had purchased naming rights to the Red Sox' new spring training ballpark.
Eric Engelman told the News-Press he bought the domain for $8 on godaddy.com, and linked the site to the Yankees' page to be funny. Engelman said he is a Cubs fan.
As of this morning, the site still goes to the Yankees' page, but Red Sox chief operating officer Sam Kennedy said he's interested in changing that.
Have him call me, Kennedy told the News-Press. We can make a deal. Or maybe we can make a deal.
Here's another good reason to check out the Fort Myers News-Press web site. Their online producers have created an excellent in-depth interactive graphic about JetBlue Park that is almost as good as being there. Click this link. Trust me, it does not go to a detailed look at Yankee Stadium.
